Reportedly he was the same way when he presented the film at a small festival months ago. Apparently he has been very unsure whether people would think his movie was any good.

I think Gibson was very defensive about the movie but I think there was a great deal of acting in order to pump this movie's controversy and ticket sales. Whoever is chatting to him inside his head, they're very good at free promotion.

I thought he was very threatening to Diane Sawyer when she pushed about his father's insane rantings. If she had pushed it, I think he might have punched her.

All-in-all, a heck of a lot of publicity for a film about pure violence. I think Gibson is a heck of a cynic and there are a ton of people buying his act.
