I never said anything of the sort --- all I said was that truth matters... and it's helpful to remember that most of the mass killings occurred at two points:

1) During the Iran Gulf War (and right after) when we were supporting him... and Reagan/Bush went so far as to over-ride the law that banned sale of 'dual-use' materials to his murderous regime --- opening the way for US, German, French, etc., companies to sell him the precursors necessary for poison gas, etc.

2) Right after Desert Storm... when the first President Bush promised US support to any who rose up to over-throw the Dictator --- and then stood by as the Shia and Kurds were MASSACRED... and those graves filled up.

IMO, that is why the US will not permit an international war crimes trial of Saddam (for fear he will call attention to our 'questionable policies' over the years)... and why we are pushing ONLY for some sort of local Iraqi trial.
