IBM to Open PC Server R&D Hub in Taiwan
Friday February 27, 6:57 AM

TAIPEI, Feb 27 Asia Pulse - The IBM Corporation is planning to set up a PC server research and development (R&D) center by the end of the first quarter of this year, an IBM Taiwan executive said Thursday.
IBM Taiwan General Manager Hsu Chu-sheng made the remarks while giving a keynote speech about "Taiwan on Demand" at a seminar held in Beijing.

Stating that it is important to devise more advanced PCs for modern users, Chu said the purpose behind the company's R&D center in Taiwan is to manufacture more advanced products to meet public demand for what is today a daily commodity.

Recruitment has already begun of professionals for the planned 80-member team, with about a dozen from the United States, Chu said.

IBM has so far opened eight R&D hubs and more than 20 development centers around the world, he said, adding that the planned PC server R&D hub in Taiwan will focus its studies on low- and middle-end personal computers in the initial stage.
