You're welcome to moderate me off this thread if you so chose, but don't come across as so totally clueless, please, (raving about capitalism, an economic system that without which, you wouldn't be sitting in front of a computer posting here). AS doesn't need any more competition in the airhead category.

Social Security is a ponzi scheme that cannot continue in its current configuration indefinitely. It needs to be fixed so that future retirees indeed won't "starve to death". And the longer that that fix is postponed, the more painful it will be.

There has to be a safety net for the elderly who worked hard all their lives, paid taxes, but either due to misfortune, bad health or both cannot support themselves.
Would you prefer to let them starve to death or perhaps we need to build poor houses for them as in the past?
These capitalist hard-hearted criticisms of any program that society implements to try to help the downtrodden is so Scrooge-like. I can imagine all the soc sec bashers sitting in their cold, empty mansions supping their gruel awaiting a visit from their friend Mr. Marley.

Totally uncalled for response to JB's post requesting a "discussion" on social security.

Let's all put our heads in the sand and hopefully everything will be okay.
