Mq - Maybe I did misinterpret your racy and ridiculous statements. Perhaps you can clarify them.

<<I am all in favour of immigration. What I do not want is a parasitic infection.>> Who are these parasites you are referring to?

<<We have the same ridiculous situation here. We have swarms of Chinese moving in and being given, for zero charge, all the assets I've produced over my lifetime, and all the assets produced over my parents' lifetimes, and their parents' lifetimes. Not to mention the value of the estates which have intrinsic value, such as clean air, beautiful country, clean water. >> Are you suggesting there is yellow dung fever happening in Kiwi land? And you find it despicable happening?

US and Canada can attest that recent Chinese immigrants (legals and illegals) have been big boost to their economies. These folks are full of energy, place high value on education and they don't rely on the welfare system. In two generations they are fully assimilated but also swarmed their best and highest institutions such as Cal Berkeley, MIT, Stanford, etc.

Should be thankful that the swarm of immigrants is not the islamic crapolas type. You should be good to "..these swarms of Chinese moving in ..", teach them Kiwi English and Kiwi way of business, give them land (the one you don't own) and let them make the land productive, etc, etc., and they'll increase NZ's GDP. They have energy to be builders and creators.

By the way, there was much dissent in Vancouver when the Hong Kong Chinese moved to Vancouver and bought properties with cash and drove up property value. Yep, those locals always have reason to get mad and upset whenever there is a sudden influx of immigrants. In New York, it's the new immigrants from South America that make the locals gone locos.
