When you're on the outside looking in, it might appear to be a sacrifice ... choosing a life of celibacy. But that's not really the case. Just like a person has no choice about being gay or heterosexual, many, if not most priests do not choose celibacy rather they grow up being predisposed to celibacy. The whole thing about celibacy and spirituality in the catholic church is a crock. If you know any priests well, they can tell you that as children they knew that the "sex thing" wasn't up their alley.
