Paul, I don't ever regret selling stocks. I do regret selling pieces of companies that are performing well. I continue to hold a cluster of companies that I feel comfortable with. I've had a lot of buy-outs, and I've dumped things that seem to be over-priced.

I'm delighted if the person I sell shares to makes a profit as well. I like to think that I've gotten the 'safe' or 'easy' gain. I will confess that I often don't relook at a 'sold' stock for a period of time. Missed profit bothers me a lot less than a loss.

I'm not finding stuff to buy, and market metrics suggest a 'top' rather than a 'bottom'. FWIW, I looked at Value Line the other day and noticed that even their indicators on the first page of the index are beyond the limits established for their universe during the last market peak.
