Vets have the highest respect for leaders like Kerry and McCain. They know that those two plus Max Cleland and Chuck Hagel have been fighting for vets in the Senate against the Bushies who want to slash their health benefits and ignore their concerns. McCain and Kerry had different views on the war, but discussed it and came to a understanding with each other. McCain now has the highest respect for Kerry and defends him against the ultra (chicken) hawks on the far-far right who will never forgive Kerry for almost putting Ollie North in prison.
