Personally, i am no atheist and will not ascribe all the world's ills to religion, I don't do that! Although religion has caused a lot of misery, it's done a lot of good, too. And I'm fully aware that my very identity reflects my membership (and that of my family) in a Judeo-Christian culture. That is a different discussion, though, than the one about whether there is, in fact, such a thing as an extrinsic, omnipotent, omniscient, benevolent consciousness operating in the universe.
