There are a lot of myths to keep track of! And to think both of them are Saints based on an "attributed" letter! Anyway, I guess then that's a little more bogus history in the movie, since Pontius Pilate was removed from office because of his extreme brutality, and only even supposedly got nice in a later historical period -- after he passed from historical view. For some reason, in his movie, Mel made him kinda sensitive (compared to some others) during the period he was still a brute.
