I heard that the Israeli Moussad "whacked" those three Americans for trying to educate Palestinians. At least that is what Arafat told the Italian PM..

Along similar lines, an enormous amount has been spent on Saudi Arabian infrastructure (who has had the money to pay for all the work, so it has not come out of US taxpayer's pockets) modernizing the country. Before oil, the country was such a miserable below third world country that it had never been colonized.

Today Riyadh looks outwardly like Phoenix Arizona.

Military involvement there really only came late after Iraq's invasion of Kuwait.

Saudi Arabia should be a showcase of what can happen to a country that we do not meddle with internally, that somehow if enough money is available to spend, American commerce, American scientific, technical, agricultural, medical, etc advances will magically and effortlessly, by a process of osmosis infuse a backward country with democracy also.

BWAHAHAHA !
