Give me a break. Nobody has said that the movie should be banned. Do you want a world where there is no discussion of religious matters? The Taliban wanted that and no i am not comparing christians to the taliban just your post to one that Mullah Omar might have made when he blew up the Hindu or Buddhist carvings. Mike

No, I'm not Jewish. Neither is my husband.

My standing is that I'm an American and we have freedom of speech here.

I have no desire to "punish these Christians." What an odd thing to post. What punishment do you have in mind, even?

But this is genuinely touching, redfish. I know that it's a cry from the heart:

Why do you attack poor innocent persons who spend money, money they can barely afford, to see this movie hoping only for an affirmation of the faith they hold dear, the faith that holds them together? They are hoping only for a teardrop of sustenance, just something to keep them going and you want to deprive them of even that? ...These people know suffering, and you can not relieve their suffering through false promises.

Yes, this world is a vale of tears.

Far from wanting to increase anyone's suffering in it, I exist in the the hope that Gibson's "story," comingled myths presented, dishonestly, as history, doesn't result in attacks on poor innocent persons--Jewish ones--who have, as a people, quite done their share of scapegoat-service for those who hold a different faith dear.

It can be very affirming of a faith to locate a scapegoat. Scapegoats are known to serve as social glue.

Pontius Pilate having been portrayed rather sympathetically, who do you think the scapegoats for the horrors portrayed in that movie are likely to be?

Perhaps Christian charity will prevail and there will be no scapegoating, no rage, as this traumatizing, sadistic movie, with it's subtitles in myriad languages, is shown in countries and to cultures around the world.

I'm sure you join me in hoping that.
