The poll, sponsored by WBTV-TV Charlotte and WTVD-TV Raleigh/Durham, shows Edwards ahead 50 percent to 47 percent. The North Carolina poll offers further evidence of Edwards’ unique ability to attract the support Democrats will need to win the White House in 2004. The only candidate in this race who has won an election for office in the South, Edwards has shown strong appeal to Southern voters, Independents and Republicans in this primary election.
