UW,
A couple of years ago a friend who did two tours as a mud Marine told me a story of how he crossed over into North VN and bushwacked a bunch of Red Chinese. They brought the one survivor back. According to my friend, the guy kept saying 'No ROK, No ROK!!" the whole way back; a reference I am sure you can appreciate. According to my friend, the guy is now rich and running an import-export business out of Hawaii. Only in America...

re:"Your link also says there were three thousand Soviet troops there "

Hey Unc.....I just rechecked that link and don't find reference to 3,000 Soviets.....I sure I missed something and you can tell me where to look.

I told you I defered to your of knowledge of weaponry and that link, I thought, came from the Pentagon....

And I will read the book you referenced...But what is inaccurate in the link I posted? What position did you hold that gave you an oversight of the "big picture"? Where you a Green Beret? If so, I admire you, but in the end I didn't support the war. I am aware of operation Phoenix and I can't condone our country doing things like that on such a large scale. I also admire Bob Kerrey but was sickened by the accounts of his operations..... I am a student of military history but have never served.
