<Those idiots in congress have known for over 30 years about the impending dilemma of boomers retiring.> Politicians of BOTH parties have used SS as an open ended line of credit. Clinton and Gore were able to talk about a "lock-box" because the Rubin economic policies generated current account surpluses, allowing Clinton NOT to dip into SS like every other President, for the first time in my lifetime. I think before they change the deal, there should be a public audit of SS, to reveal all the piles of I.O.U's from the government. After all, SS really is supposed to be OUR MONEY, just like Mr. Bush says.
