Kerry has indicated that when people question his record on the Senate floor with regards to his votes on weapons systems, they are insinuating that he wants to weaken the country militarily. They are insinuating that he is unpatriotic. Or else why would they do so?

We are aware that there is difference of opinion between Rumsfeld and the military brass on what they see the military force should look like 10 to 15 years from now. We have heard of "shock and awe" as a tactic of war and we have heard of "fast and light" as another approach. In that scenario Rumsfeld does not prefer certain weapons programs. Do we call Rumsfeld's action as something negative making him ineligible to hold important offices to safeguard our nation? If not then why pick on Kerry on that score?
