I think you are too bright to fail to see a connection between the disappearance of a stable blue collar family lifestyle and an increase in crime. Drug and 3 strike laws were a response that worsened the situation but were not the root cause. Yes, undocumented aliens are foreign labor. Sales of chips in the US should consider the foreign labor component. I agree that the war and tax reduction costs may not be permanent and that the extent of the jobs recovery is uncertain, but these are not the problem. They merely restrict the government's flexability to deal with the globalization of labor problem and make it more likely that direct trade action will occur.
