John Re...No, bad one.
Well, the fact that they say, "...WASHINGTON - President Bush (news - web sites)'s budget would produce deficits totaling $2.75 trillion over the next decade," is totally false, because GW will only be president, either for 10 more months, or 4yrs 10 months, not 10 yrs, so they won't all be GW's budgets, no way, no how. And anytime you have to lie, or mislead, to make a point, isn't very often a good thing. Who knows, six months after the election, the recession will be over, and GW could raise taxes to pay for the new programs. Or GW will feel the timing is right to wield the veto. The point is that GW's budget deficits will be bad enough, on their own merits, that, by lying about them, you are putting in doubt any of your claims.
He's never vetoed a spending bill... Reagan and <cough> Clinton vetoed a half dozen by this time in their term
Different circumstances bring different results. It is customary for presidents to justify spending on more pork in recessions. Bill didn't have a recession to contend with, nor did he have 9/11, which set back the economy considerably.
Look at the dollar. The whole world knows that Bush is mortgaging our future. If you have kids, they will have much less wealth as a result of Bush.
I assume you are talking about the weak dollar, in comparison to the yen, or euro. The other side is that the dollar has been too strong, all through the nineties, and should have fallen, long before GW came to office. I personally feel the dollar was too strong, and should have been realigned, but that is me.

You say that, as if by doing nothing, you can positively say terrorism would die out on its own, and the world economy would regain a 4% growth rate. On the contrary, I feel the middle east, oil, and how fast, the ME can raise their living standards, will determine, to a large part, how well our children will do. In other words, terrorism, and its effects on the world economy, will determine, a large part of the worlds future economic growth. We will all gain or suffer, based on the outcome, far more than we want to admit; just as our children will.
Bush is the worst fiscal President of my lifetime.
I have no idea how old you are. However, during my lifetime, Herbert Hoover, and Carter were worse. Now, I know, by saying fiscal, you might think that Carter would be eliminated. However, Carter, had high inflation, high unemployment, a huge recession, and a big drop in confidence, all of which he didn't address, by doing the things necessary to correct them; one of which is lower tariffs, drop protectionism, and let capitalism do its work.
For God sakes, be a conservative, not a Republican. Have some self respect.
I don't mind being called either, a Rep, or conservative, although I suspect Rep., as in moderate rep. would be more correct. Just don't call me one of those damn liberals. |
