Mish: Like You, I Have Felt Burner Ben Bernanke

...was The Candidate for over a year now. Not only has he carried the torch of the most radical measures possible, buthe has appeared sunny and comfortable in all of his chatter--as though he were getting "the nod" every step of the way, from above.

From my new newsletter: " So why is the Alan Greenspan of 2001-2004, not your father’s Alan Greenspan? Because the Inflation Fighter has become a Deflation Fighter. And the Deflation Fighter is so serious about what he is seeing for the US Economy, he is willing to publicly repudiate his entire record. In fact, every time he speaks he practically begs the markets to understand he has absolutely no intention whatsoever of raising rates anytime soon. Even with inflationary data now appearing!

I don’t know how else to prove to people, therefore, that we are currently operating within a deflationary paradigm. The artillery to brought to bear on the matter since 2001 has been massive, with no let up in sight. Washington wants a weaker dollar, Washington wants more tax cuts, Washington wants more government spending. Yes, the current President wants all these things too—his interests and the interests of the Fed have been in alignment, since January 2001. And until there is job creation, that alignment will remain. As I mentioned before, the Fed has studied deflation—and they’ve pretty much concluded they are powerless to fight it, once it enters its downward spiral. Deflation, once set in motion strongly, is nearly impossible to stop. The President must have job creation to ensure his re-election. And, the Fed must have job creation before they will stop fighting Deflation—and return to fighting their old enemy, Inflation.

As usual, it’s all about jobs. And in the next eight months, until the election? More so.
