Everyone should do all they can to address the problems they feel should be addressed, patriotic war hero or not.Would he have been a "better" man, had he done that? I have no idea. IMO, the only person who could judge this is Kerry himself, or those closest to him. All I know is his public persona and his actions. Not the same thing. Are we all in agreement that the Winter Soldier testimony about the Vietnam war atrocities and the suffering of our troops in that engagement, and Kerry's testimony about it before the Senate, were good things, that is, about situations that should NOT have been kept secret, but should have been -- as they were -- made public? I think it's clear that we - meaning the people who post on this thread - are not in agreement on this, because some of us don't believe Kerry was telling the truth. I personally think there are a lot of holes in his testimony, and am somewhat cynical about his motives for testifying. And yes, it's all going to be dug up and aired out, and Kerry will shout that his patriotism is being impugned. And if you choose not to believe the former POWs who say that Kerry's actions worsened their imprisonment that's your prerogative. All the different experiences and perspectives of Vietnam, and Kerry's anti-war activities, are going to be brought out and aired - because Kerry is the one who's been waving the Vietnam shirt for 20 years, and he's the one running for President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, and it's fair game.
