It's all in the style of the fish's fight. Smallies tend not to ever give up and do some jumping. I've caught several over 4 pounds in Canada with a light, 6 pound test, spinning rod and they are fun. Last one I caught was 19" on a cane pole while I was crappie fishing. Had me all over the boat.

Muskies give a short but very violent fight. Salmon and stripers stay in the water but pull forever. You want some fun, contact this guy when the cobia are running. They fight like salmon. This guy's a smart ass so if he gives you shit, hand it back to him and you'll get along.

BTW, I caught a 9', 175 pound Marlin in Cabo San Lucas 20 years ago that I still ache from.
