Well , I am not saying the historical side has not any relevence , but to consider the wider field and what is accepted NOW ...as totality of that history in todays world thru new translations and scholarship opened up, of a greateer view of all the other beliefs and stories , that now can be viewed together side by side. When you consider that only in the last century the code of Hieroglyphics was discovered allowing for all the translations of ancient Egyptian and their llives and beliefs , or the Summarian ..or the insights into the Hindu, our oldest religon on earth , by far . History is ofetn mis-portrayed by believers , but the fact remains , that so m uch more history was uncovered and revealed in the last 150yrs , than ever before giving more insight. The insight you are giving me about the "fruits" & abundance bestoyed upon the righteous , but not the most righteous of blessings , which is the right to serve god and have everlasting life. This is an old Hindu concept too , known before Moses . History as we now know it includes this with the translation of Sanskrit whic were not available to western scholars only up until recent times. What does bother me the most about the "Christ Story" ...was exactly that lack of total ahimsa , that is towards animals as well as humans. In this light , could not accept the story as being other than that a story . A Messiah would know better, than to be driving helpless animals off cliffs for reason of demon possession . This has to be contrived. " Judeo/Christian history , is such a small part of the totality , in actual fact. But it is very self absorbed for sure. <g>
