Nadine, we've seen French Intelligence up close and personal in New Zealand [Rainbow Warrior terrorist attack by them]. So I'm not surprised if their bungling agents didn't have a clue what was going on with WMD in Iraq. I don't know about the Germans.

Personally, given the profusion of WMDs around the world, I don't see why Saddam would agree with the UN that he should be denied something his enemies are allowed to have. Which isn't to say I agree he should have them. Just that an agreement under duress [after a surrender after being defeated in 1990] is no agreement.

As I pointed out, I was in favour of taking over Iraq whether Saddam had WMDs or not, programmes or not, intentions or not. But I prefer a NUN takeover to a COW takeover with a USA viceroy. But a COW is better than nothing.
