I was watching it. Tied the record, eh?! I've loved LOTR's for many years. Now, when will Thomas Covenant, Unbeliever be honored? Donaldson was an English major. His ability in language informs the trilogy. It is a difficult choice; but I think I must give Donaldson the nod over Tolkien. They both brought a spiritual dimension to fantastic worlds. Tolkien was more Zoroaster/Christian, while Donaldson was more encouraging of a personal choice involving what one loves. Will Donaldson win in 20 years? I hope so. He was better than Tolkien...by a smidgeon...
