I did some googling and found some analyses as this idea has been kicking around for a while - Orrin Hatch introduced a bill last year and others have done so before that. The Founders were concerned about foreign intervention and lack of immersion in American culture (both common in Europe with kings of a different nationality being put in charge of a country under the auspices of the Great Powers) but those conditions have certainly changed. The Constitution also requires that the President have lived here for at least 14 years so any candidate could not come right off the boat either. Considering the winnowing process for Presidential candidates anything suspicious in his/her background would soon come to light. I'd expect a fair amount of xenophobia though.
