That's Funny: I Remember When the Shekel Was a Source

of embarrassment and difficulty year after year. My father tells a story of seeing, again, year after year in the 1970's, the Hasidim in New York and Boston lining up to purchase Israeli Govt. Bonds on issue dates, knowing full well they'd get hammered on the price, and the exchange rate. (Patriotic buying, to say the least!).

Now, the shekel is "too strong." Amazing.
