I see the situations as very different.

One of the big things that stands out re. Nazi Germany in anyone's mind was its attempts to wipe off the face of the earth those it regarded as subhuman (Jews and Gypsies immediately and in future years, the Slavs of eastern Europe). Now moving to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it is clear to me that the side most likely to commit genocide is not the Israeli side.

The following sermon was delivered at the Zayed bin Sultan Aal Nahyan mosque in Gaza. The speaker was Dr. Ahmad Abu Halabiya, an appointed member of the Palestinian Authority Fatwa Council, and is former acting Rector of the Islamic University in Gaza.
"Have no mercy on the Jews, no matter where they are, fight them, wherever you are. Wherever you meet them, kill them. Wherever you are, kill the Jews, the Americans, who are like them, and those who stand by them. They are all in one trench against the Arabs and the Moslems. ... It is forbidden to befriend Israelis or to aid them. Don't love them or enter into agreement with them, don't help them or sign accords with them. Anyone who does this is one of them. This is the word of Allah, blessed be He. They, they are the terrorists. They should be slaughtered. They should be murdered. Such is the word of Allah."

Frankly, given the popularity of classic Nazi-era anti-semitic books, movies, and other propaganda in the Arab world, the parallel to Nazi Germany is far stronger there. There is a LOT I could post on this subject if I wished. For example, the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion", an anti-semitic forgery which was a favorite of Hitler, was adapted into a TV drama in Egypt a year and a half ago and was aired in 22 middle eastern countries. Also:

Many Arab governments fund the publication of new printings of the protocols, and teach them in their schools as historical fact. See Arabs and anti-Semitism for more information. The publication of this document has also seen a resurgence in Russia and other republics of the former Soviet Union among the new generation of national socialists. It is also distributed in the United States by some Palestinian student groups on college campuses, and by Louis Farrakhan's "Nation of Islam". The Protocols have been accepted as fact by many Islamic extremist organizations, such as Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Al Qaeda.

'You seem to think it shows there are NO parallels between the two situations "

You are playing into Tom M.'s antisemitic reasoning. Sure there are parallels, but then you can draw parallels with anything. I'd say most Arab countries internally have more of a Nazi look and approach to dealing with their people than does Israel. Tom M's place in life it seems is to find fault with Jews, whether they be in Israel, France or the U.S. If we're drawing parallels the best one is between a Nazi and Tom M., he enjoys very much thinking like one.

Also, unlike in Israel today, in Nazi Germany if you denounced the government's policies you would soon disappear. Ahhh, that reminds me more of Iraq under Saddam. Better to draw parallels with him and the Nazis than Israel and the PA. Or better to draw parallels with the Serbs and their ethnic cleansing...

Jews did fight against the holocaust and did use resistance tactics, usually destroying infrastructure related to the German death camp infrastructure. And their were people in Germany that spoke out against Jewish persecution.. But they would be rounded up and shot, women were raped and shot. It is typical of an oppresor to rape its female victims, you saw this in Nazi Germany, this is a big favorite of the Serbs, to rape muslim women. Also of the Nazi to Jewish women, but I don't see that today in Israel, do they round up muslim women and rape them. Ahhh, yes, didn't Saddam do that.
