He runs a news and analysis thread. I really don't care who he bans.

Of course, I'm probably the only one on SI who believes all moderator bans should expire within a few days or a week. That would eliminate permanent bans, the ones PT favors, and give folks a cooling off period before coming back to a thread. It would also force moderators to moderate.

Just as a note, Laz, Bill was banned on the Stop the War thread, along with a very few others. In order for that to have happened there had to have been a repeat performance of rudeness coupled together with complaints from others. I've always welcomed viewpoints no matter whose they were, but I've never welcomed jerkist behavior. I still don't, except these days I prefer to use SI's ignore function and I encourage others to do so also. It really is remarkable how clean the thread can become when this feature is in use.

Would it matter if he banned JLA?
Would it matter if he banned JLA for no reason? That would bother me.

I already pulsed PT about your banning. It'll be interesting to see what he says. If it's as the situation as ChinuSFO and my banning from the Kerry thread, I could get upset.

Jlallen has his own thread. He makes no bones about banning every democrat who makes a post on his thread. I was banned after making exactly one post which was simply an article from MSNBC which I agreed with. That was 3 years ago and I simply removed the bookmark and never went back until today, I'm still banned. I had never read his original post on the thread until today. It is as follows----

In honor of the many "moderated" (read heavily censored) threads initiated by numerous 1st amendment type liberals I've decided to offer the conservative antidote. This is a place for the more conservative members of SI to hang out to plot the further misdeeds to the VRWC. No pretense will be made that exclusion of any SI poster will be made based upon any objective criteria. All banishments will be made at the sole discretion and fanciful whims of the Moderator. So, if you are not slightly to the right of Attilla the Hun, you won't fit in here.

After reading the thread (and the 2 revisions) I see that he started the thread because he was banned from another thread and his new thread was a sort of revenge for the treatment he felt he didn't deserve on the other thread. He bans all people who didn't share his extremist views, after 1 post in my case. That's his prerogative, he started the thread, he's the moderator, but if he bans every democrat after the first post they make I don't think he could have a beef for being banned from any other board.

In the second revision of the board original post he stated that the only reason he was banned from the thread he mentioned was because he asked a question. Without looking it up I am going to flat out say that that is a pure falsehood. He has never "just asked a question."

I feel PartyTime has been more than fair on this thread. Read the original board header on this thread, then ask yourself what jlallen would do if this was his board.
