Yup, saw that too.

>>>Ruby shot Oswald on Sunday<<<

Again, glued to the tube.

Nutty optimist? Can you think of a better way to be?

Loma Prieta? I was pulling out of the parking lot at Raley's, waving to a friend going in the opposite direction. I thought my car's engine was "missing." As I drove home, I was cursing at the thought of having to take the car to the shop, something I'll always dread. (An understatement. I'd rather drink the oil out of the crankcase! After 10,000 miles!)

At home, I put the groceries away and got on my computer and started telecommuting. About 8:00 that evening, I got a telephone call from my Aunt Mary in Southern California, asking me if I was okay. something in her voice . . . I said, "Fine, what makes you ask?" She said, "Because you had an earthquake up there." I said, "Earthquake? We're always shaking and rolling. Those little rumbles are nothing to worry about." She said," This was more than a little rumble. Turn on your TV." I did. Stayed in front of it for the better part of a week (while I continued to telecommute). Fell in love with Anna Chavez and Pete Wilson.

As an aside, sometime during the aftermath of Loma Prieta, the now defunct SF Examiner ran a picture of newsman, Pete Wilson, but the caption read, "Governer Pete Wilson." Newsman Pete Wilson commented that the rest of the country already thinks California a strange and goofy place and therefore probably would think it quite normal that the Governor of California also anchors the evening news. - Holly
