UncleW, it was definitely the French who did it. I do think there was complicity by Britain and USA, given the circumstances around that time and actions by Britain and the USA in various ways. Call me a cynic.

I agree I was stretching a point trying to make out that France has at least once been on the side of the USA. But I didn't stretch it as far as WMD intentions to have programmes were stretched into 45 second launches of 50 megaton weapons of mass destruction.

I want to play the stretching game too.
