Actually, I'm getting that, word for word, from books...

Oh, you are "getting it" all right Jacob Snyder. ...We are all ready to accept that. <vbg>

But I simply refuse to be "responsible" for correcting the egregious analytical errors you've taken from that which you got.

I believe this to be fair and reasonable, unless this is to become the Anthropology Hour, which I ordinarily reserve for the post 3:00 am period. <g>

The Altruists often out-compete, and come out on top. Selfish self-interest can lead to sharing, cooperating, forgiving.......even loving your enemies.

This is ridiculous Jacob.. Expecting a group of "rebellious" altruists to maintain cohesion in the face of potential punishment should they fail in their endeavor?

Who became the new alpha male? Did they all share that responsibility?

What normally happens is exactly what occurred in Haiti.. You find one (or more) rival leader(s) willing to stick their neck(s) out, rallying other disenchanted parties under their banner...

Then once the old alpha male was removed, a new one arose and probably was just as domineering as the old one.. Except it might play "divide and conquer", turning younger males against one another.

I find it hardly credible, nor rational, to believe that a such a group will EVER act altruistically for the benefit of the "greater good".. They have their own agendas and band together only because they see their temporary cohesion as the best means of removing the obstacle to realizing that agenda..

But once the obstacle is removed, then someone is going to attempt to control that group and seize the perquisites that go with being "top dog" (mating rights).

I think you need to go back and re-read that book..
