They haven't! I goofed! The civil servants doling out the statistics didn't juiced them up. You know, a little anabolic steroids here, a small assault in the truth there, a botox over there, a spin thither and the picture would have looked good?

Why that hasn't been done? Because this is impossible to happen? Uhm, not likely.

Here is why:

The civil servants will always be there. Governments may change but they stay. Before it became clear who was going to battle Bush next fall, the jobs' picture was looking good.

But something changed. Now it is Kerry. It is defined. Bush 2004 is not guaranteed. What if those civil servants write the script to favor Bush? It is risky! Kerry's chance to get elected is real and he won't be kind to them if they spruce up the figures and even with that prop up Bush loses!! So civil servants are back to doling out the truth. And as such jobs are not there.
