Tom:

"I seem to remember Reagan lying under oath about the Iran Contra affair."

I have no recollection of Reagan lying under oath. In fact I have no recollection that he was under oath regarding the Iran-Contra affair.

"It would appear to me that a person of your intellect would see that politicians on both sides of the isle are masters at lying on a constant basis including at times under oath. To say it is just a democrat thing is ludicrous."

I think my point was that the dems publically stated and argued that it was no big deal. I certainly don't dispute that politicians of both parties lie every time they open their mouth.

Maybe I am old enough to remember a tricky dicky lying about the secret bombing of Cambodia. So what gives with the demo slam?

Again, tricky dicky did lie, but not under oath. Also, he was removed from office for his sins with the help of Reps who somewhat belatedly turned on him. The post that I was responding to was relating to punishment of Martha Stewart for lying under oath. I was simply pointing out that a major party had taken the position that it is no big deal to lie under oath. I am very much in agreement with you that both parties lie to us all the time, but not under oath and certainly I don't know of anytime in our history as a country where a major party told the American people that lying under oath was not serious.
