Too bad the story is now 100% hype.

Almost totally out of NANO now. Sold a little right at the peak, but more on the way up and on the way down, including today. Average sale at about $16.

NANO was very good to me. I wouldn't say it was 100% hype now. I mean, it might be that the name is just right, and there are a lot of people misunderstanding their products, but that seems odd. I think it likely that they have some good new chip-making tools, but I don't see how they make serious money on them before the next tech downturn. My disappointment with them is that they report selling equipment for manufacturing of flat panels, but have nothing to show for it.

So Merrill Lynch comes out with a nanotechnology index that has 25 members. For some reason NANO was included and it, like many in the group named, was up sharply today.
It really makes you wonder.

I happen to own two which are certainly on the Nanotechnology level: (WEDX, JMAR). I am not sure why NANO, VECO, and UTEK are in the group.

__________
The following companies will be included in the index: Amcol International (ACO), Applied Films (AFCO), Altair Nanotechnologies (ALTI), Biosante Pharmaceuticals (BPA), Caliper Life Sciences (CALP), Cabot Microelectronics (CCMP), Emcore (EMKR), FEI (FEIC), Flamel Technologies (FLML), Headwaters (HDWR), JMAR Tech (JMAR), MTS Systems (MTSC), Nanometrics (NANO), Nanophase Technologies (NANX), Nanogen (NGEN), NVE Corp. (NVEC), Universal Display (PANL), Pharmacopeia (ACCL), SkyePharma (SKYE), Symyx Technologies (SMMX), Three-Five Systems (TFS), Harris & Harris (TINY), Ultratech (UTEK), Veeco Instruments (VECO) and Westaim (WEDX).
