Hi Iqbal, I've reviewed your post on Haiti, and find that hasn't informed so much as proselytized for a point-of-view which, frankly, seems to spring more from an ideological purity than a grasp of reality. Here's some questions that I'd like to pose in order to get this discussion back to dealing with some semblance of reality. 1) What percentage of the popular vote did Aristide win by in the lastest Presidential elections in Haiti in 2000? Answer: 92% of the popular vote, and this figure has never been disputed, though a minor flap over some Senate races has been distorted to create a disinformation campaign about a flawed election. 2) What are the claims made by the rebels against Aristide as a tyrant? Answer: There are none. They simply accuse Aristide of being a tyrant entirely without bothering to explain the accusation. 3) Who is behind the coup d'etat? Answer: 15 fractious parties representing the elite and the business class of Haiti who are being financed by the U.S. through organizations such as the National Endowment for Democracy, the CIA and vicious ideologues within the Bush Administration. 4) Did Jean Bertrand Aristide resign? Answer: No, he was forced to sign the document of resignation under duress, rendering it ineffective under international law. Furthermore, this claim of resignation is a disinformation campaign created by the U.S. government which has willfully mis-translated the text of the letter written in Haitian Kreyol to say something that it does not about the conditionality of Aristide's forced departure from Haiti. *** You will find abundant sources available to help you overcome your misperceptions about Haiti and the U.S.-perpetrated coup d'etat.
