Voltaire on the apostles:

"A dozen knaves, as ignorant as owls and as poor as church mice."

Perhaps over generalized but telling, nevertheless...

Of course, there is an end to poverty as the Church has admirably demonstrated through the centuries...

2 Corinthians 4:3-4

"And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in who's case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."

And what do you do but quote me the works of the god of this world on Jesus. So you're saying look at what the god of this world says about Jesus. Of course the devil is going to say Jesus never existed, or He was not the Son of God, and on and on. He'll say anything to ensure you do not believe. And he is very clever. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he did not exist.
