I have this minority view that the economy should be managed so that interest rates are always low. So I see a rise as positive only from a perceptual standpoint. I agree that 25 or 50 bp wouldn't do all that much harm.

Just came back from Australia.

They've had 2 1/4 point rises in the last 6 months.

It impacted their real estate prices - which are very high.

Real estate in Australia has doubled in the last 3-5 years.

They didn't experience the down turn USA did after 9/11/01.

On the other side of the coin Canada eased yesterday and no one is talking about that.

We still have a mushy economy.

Tax cuts will help through out the rest of the year.
