I think most of this stuff is emotional. It has very little to do with logic.

People get terribly upset when, for example, some woman, once or twice in a lifetime, finds a way to get an extra $500-1000 in food stamps or any other form of subsidy in connection with children born out of wedlock and instead use the proceeds on themselves for cigarettes, drugs, or alcohol.

But, there are many politically connected people who are employed at jobs that have no function and are paid US$50-150k for just showing up - and sometimes they don't even have to show up.

You don't have too many people being upset by that.

It is all about fairness and being able to control one's anger. We don't have schools that teach fairness or how to control one's anger. We have too many people on earth that are angry and are undereducated. That is a deadly comibination.
