A change would definitely help America--strictly on a psychological level as involves world opinion. I am no mystic--but opinion and feeling are "forces" in some sense of the word. The organized momentum against Bush would be deflected with his defeat. The sincere enemies of America (as well as the mindless and the cruel) would need to start with a new snow-ball. Even if I fervently supported Bush and his policies, I would see it as my self interest to retire him to the pasture and to bring in a new bull. Five percent of Americans know what I mean and the rest know everything.
