A slight revision of my earlier statement.

I think 100x is possible but not likely without scenarios like huge solar power satellites. 100x the current solar production won't happen any time soon, even 10x is unlikely to happen in the next decade or two.

If you go out far enough all sorts of things are possible. Hell maybe 500 million years from now we will build a Dyson sphere... but for my life time solar will likely produce only a small part of our energy needs.
