OT Did any of these scream buy at you?

There have been studies comparing the performance of analysts top recommendations to their lowest recommendations and the lowest recommended stocks normally do best.

Starting at the top of the list: I shorted MSO when Martha was indicted. Message 18997907 I covered 3.5 months later at a small loss. Message 19335922 Glad I covered, as it is now up 60%.

The list is replete with stocks in solid uptrends, eg, WIND. The consensus has actually been improving so the analysts hated it even more when it was lower.

I agree with your statement: If we could take these symbols and run a scan for stocks near 52 week lows then we could potentially have a winning combo with some of the matches. I would only modify it by looking at lows for other periods as well since there is excessive irrational focus on the 52 week period.

One stock on this list that is certainly on my watchlist is LAB, big specialist firm LaBranche. Lousy news. Business stinks. Can there be a better time to buy? Stock just began bottoming out.

I honestly haven't yet done any work on this list. I posted it mainly for discussion purposes. At the moment I have no positions in any of the listed names.
