Correcting your error: Officially the last recession started in March 2001. More importantly it ended in November 2001; some 28 months ago.

I don't blame Bush for the recession, he just became President. However, his ideological economic policies have made for a poor recovery.

Bill, CR, tonto, I think all of you are correct. But I have to agree with CR's point also that the issue is the pace of the recovery. Bush proposed tax cuts as the solution. HIs tax cut proposal, which is expected to provide a jump start to the economy, is very certain to cause problems elsewhere such as in Social Security (deficits). So right now what folks are claiming as a recovery is truly not a recovery. We do not need a band aid, we need a cure.

So Bush needs to provide a long term solution for a long term fix and he has not done that yet. It is for that reason we have seen short spurts of economic growth. The patient is alive but not kicking.
