Generally speaking the opinion of a young person isn't worth hearing.

Compare yourself now to what you were when you were 21 years old.

"She is absolutely convinced that the "war on terror"
has been overblown and that 9/11 was "an isolated
incident, conducted by average criminals, that had little
impact on America overall."

That seems like standard fare for far too many liberals.
If they took a realistic view of the terrorists
responsible for 9/11 & the real effects it had, they would
also have to give Bush credit for taking decisive action
against the terrorist threat & his actions to avert a
major economic calamity.

"WMD was her big issue and the "lie" surrounding their
existence."

Again, too many liberals prefer to cling to lies conjured
by liberals rather than face reality. Their opposition to
Bush would be far weaker without the mountain of lies they
accept as fact. What amazes me is their feigned outrage
that Bush allegedly lied, yet they seem to have all manner
of excuses when their favorite liberal politicians are
exposed for lying. They absolutely cannot see or accept
this clear double standard.

I can't remember ever seeing so many folks clinging to an
alternate reality so fiercely & with such conviction. The
scary part is that these folks are absolutely convinced
they are justified in their actions & they represent the
superior POV. If it is so superior, why do they need to
resort to lies & deceit on a regular basis?

all she really cares about at this post/college point in her life is womens and minority rights with a vague socialist/pacifist tinged ideology. The irony is that it is in those countries where women are treated the worse is where the US had been trying to make changes but pacifism and distrust of the US rt wingers trumps stoning of women, i guess. The saddest part is that she probably is a lovely girl. What college did she go to? Mike

When I asked her what she thought about the David Kay report

Well, Mr. Kay tells Bush: "Admit WMD mistake" :)

I had a similar experience recently, but it was more 'total immersion.' I was back home for awhile and took the opportunity to spend a lot of time with friends and relatives. Every morning my dad goes to this coffee shop to chew the fat with his codger buddies, most of whom are vets. To a man, they're against Bush. One guy said, "Everything I got I owe to the Democratic Party." Another guy said he hates guys that wear cowboy hats. Try and reason with that!

Talking politics with some of my old friends got tiresome fast. They're almost unanimous in thinking Bush is a moron. After talking current events and other things in the news, I realized they were remarkably clueless and uninformed. One guy who I've gotten to know over the years through doing business with him is an MFA, runs an art gallery, and sells fine used books. I've always assumed he was sophisticated. To hear him going on about the "Zionists" in the Bush administration was discouraging indeed.

I'm just grateful these attitudes are in a small 'blue' state and don't prevail in middle America.
