TIA kidl MDW:TSXV Midway Gold Corp - News Alert Midway Gold Corp.: Drilling Begins on the Midway Property - March 4, 2004 1:05PM ET Midway Gold Corp. is pleased to announce that drilling will recommence on the Midway Property, Nye County, Nevada. The Bureau of Land Management issued a positive Decision Record for the exploration Plan of Operations in late December, 2003. All related regulatory requirements have been fulfilled allowing for the staged exploration of the property. Newmont USA Limited, a subsidiary of Newmont Mining Corporation (NYSE: NEM) ("Newmont"), is the joint venture partner of the Midway project. Exploration activities under the Plan allow for up to 600 drill holes. Geological modeling of the deposit is ongoing and will assist with drill hole placement to further define the zones of mineralization. Proposed exploration drilling is designed to further define the Greater Discovery Zone and test for continuity of gold mineralization outward from the recognized mineralized zones. Two Rigs to Initiate Phase One Drilling at Midway The Phase One drill program is scheduled to begin March 8, 2004 with a reverse circulation rig. A diamond drill core rig is to arrive March 14. The immediate focus of exploration activities will be to test for the continuity of mineralized feeder structures along a 2,500 foot interval of strike length south from the Discovery Zone to the Enterprise Zone. With positive results, further drilling is to be conducted in the SP, 121 and Enterprise zones over the next several months. It is anticipated that the initial exploration program for the Midway property will be completed June, 2004. Drilling Continues at Spring Valley As announced January 15, 2004, a program of oriented core drilling was conducted at the Spring Valley property. Drilling utilized PQ sized rods through the overburden to allow for completion of the hole with HQ tools. A down-hole core-orienting tool assisted with determining geometry of the veins and structures that host gold mineralization at Spring Valley. The expanded reverse circulation drill program is ongoing. Additionally, a detailed review of the coarse gold encountered in the mineralized system is to be conducted to allow for a more accurate estimation of the gold content.
