Why is Senator John Kerry kowtowing to Israel?

Why is the Democratic candidate for the presidency of the United States, Senator John Kerry, kowtowing to Israel? In a speech at Brown University (28 February) Kerry said, "...we must again reaffirm we are enlisted for the duration - and reaffirm our belief that the cause of Israel must be the cause of America - and the cause of people of conscience everywhere".

All of Kerry's talk elsewhere of making serious changes becomes mere "blowin' in the wind", and the song was 100 times better than the political spin. How can an "honest" pretender to the White House completely ignore the terrible plight of the Palestinians while worshipping at the altar of a stream of Israeli thugs and murderers, ranging from Begin to Sharon?

Kerry also said, during the same speech, "As the only true democracy in the Middle East, Israel has both the burden and the glory of a vigourous public square." Since when does a true democracy deny the same rights to all of its citizens? Israel's Arabs get treated as badly as the Palestinians.

Does this observation by Genevieve Cora Fraser qualify Israel as a democracy?

Israel's 36-year-long brutal occupation of Palestine is illegal. The settlements are illegal; bulldozing homes, reservoirs, wells and water pipes, destroying crops and orchards, deliberate starvation and holding 3.2 million people under lock and key is illegal. The Apartheid Wall, Israeli-only roads, razor wire electrified fence and checkpoints insure that the population cannot escape the incursions of tanks, helicopter gun ships and the daily killings of men, women and children.

Why can't any US politician say to Israel: "ENOUGH! There's no threat to your sovereignty! Your problems with the Palestinians are of your own making! You're the only country in the Middle East with weapons of mass destruction. With 84 nuclear warheads, you could eliminate any offending Arab country within minutes." What more do you want?

Why can't American politicians see and sympathize with the plight of the Palestinians. How can so many elected officials, especially those involved in foreign relations, act so ignorantly about what's going on in occupied Palestine? If they're not ignorant, how can they be so duplicitous in their pronouncements about human rights while ignoring the genocide committed by Israel against Palestinians?

Politicians regularly disclaim publicly any undue influence by an Israeli lobby, yet they constantly yield to it. Some of them attempt to dismiss observations that a biased media controls them by calling the observers "conspiracy theorists". Yet they never address the conspiracy!

Does a Zionist conspiracy really exist? If it doesn't, how can anyone explain the complete hold on American politicians exercised by 5.2 million Jews out of a total US population of close to 300 million?

Why can't a single politician speak the truth and be heard by the 285 million non-Jews in America? Why can't they honestly tell the huge majority of American citizens how they're being taken for a ride? For how many more years are politicians going to be able to get away with having their constituents cough up billions in taxes to support torture and murder and grand theft of land, water and other resources from Palestinians by Israel?

How many Americans know that Rachel Corrie was purposely run over in Israel by a Caterpillar bulldozer, manufactured in the USA and sent to Israel as part of the United States' regular aid package to the state of Israel, which amounts to at least 3-4 billion US dollars annually, all of which comes from US taxpayers?

When is the American public, including its elected officials, going to stop feeling guilty about the anti-Semitism of their ancestors? When is the present generation going to put an end to Jewish organizations like the Anti-Defamation League playing on the guilt of Americans?

How is it that Israeli spokesmen in America can continue to get away with defrauding the American public with lies and deceit? When is the ordinary citizen going to get sick of the fraudulent propagandizing by Israeli spokesmen in the US media?

Did you know that Arik [Ariel] Sharon once told Amos Oz that he wanted to foment global anti-Semitism? That this was his trick - "no more sweetness and light" - to con Jews into leaving the Diaspora and moving to Israel.

It's time for American politicians to start asking and answering the questions about Israel they've avoided or skirted for years. It's time for candidates for office to realize that yielding to the wishes of 5.2 million supporters of Israel at the expense of 285 million Americans has to come to an end.

One more question: what is it the American political spin masters are after? Do they want many of the 285 million non-Jewish Americans to get fed up enough to foment a real anti Semitic revolution in America? Is their goal to create anti-Semitic converts? Is it to have the shoe pinch so badly that American Jews become the real objects of hate? It looks that way now.

The cabal of Israeli lobbyists, Zionist media moguls and their politician slaves sickens me. I'm also deeply fearful for the fate of my Jewish friends.
