They aren't being libelled. That's ridiculous. People are expressing opinions about what they say. Both of them are free to refute or ignore those opinions. That's hardly libel. It's free and open debate. And other threads have been started, some in jest and some in seriousness, to discuss particular posters on SI, so it's hardly unique to have a thread about a particular poster on SI.

I find it acceptable just as I would find a thread about Laz or me or you acceptable, provided that no one's privacy was being violated (and in the case of the Compendium thread no personal details such as names, addresses, etc. about either AS or LT have been posted as far as I know). It wouldn't matter to me if the thread praised me or criticized me or ridiculed me. I don't live for the praise of people on SI and I'm hardly pained by criticism from those same people.

If someone starts a thread saying they disagree (or agree) with you they are free to do that. If someone wants to put a billboard on I-35 quoting one of your posts (disclosing only your pseudonym and not your real identity, whatever that is) and saying they think what you said is ridiculous (or brilliant) they can do that. I imagine Laz hasn't done so because he has better things to do with his time, but you'd have to ask him.
