And the job numbers are still weak so even with all the stimulus we are still not out of the woods. The numbers today are really disappointing and it guarantees a horserace if jobs continue this badly.
Kerry and the dems will pull out the racist protectionist card. They will further depress americans into thinking bad times are on the horizon. And how bush handles this will decide whether he will win. Its march and he just cant bide his time thinking next month will be better. In terms of jobs, wages(also bad) and then consumer confidence it may not be. So what to do? If you want to fight the demOgogues, perhaps lets beat them at their own game with a populist job creation policy. Problem here is that would involve spending and or tax incentives and there just aint much room for that. I will give it a shot thought. Tax incentives for companies hiring domestically for a specified period of time. Maybe a business fica holiday? OR some type of offset to Health Insurance costs for new employees. To pay for it becomes the problem. Maybe an employment bond to pay for it if that is even possible. Truth of the matter is he just has to propose something that shows he cares even if if doesnt go thru congress. The situation is likely to self correct anyway. So the demO-gogues dont have to be the only Gogues. Mike
