All of Iraq's neigbors opposed the war. And none, except Israel, considered Iraq a threat. But under UN containment, a containment which history has now shown proved effective, Saddam couldn't reach Israel. But you did nail the crux of the matter: oil. The power to keep oil off of the market; and the power to put oil into the market. Now, American-controlled. Actually, insider-controlled. The vast majority of Americans would not kill people in order to get oil.
