The white house must have cringed when they saw the numbers.

VERY close to negative job growth (but for the government hiring).

As a practical matter there is little to be done about it, but voters showed in 1992 that they hold the president responsable for whatever economy he is lucky/unlucky to serve in.

Yes indeed, today's sore leader is Bush. One day after he unleashes his campaign ad, we get the news on the job front. Dismal figures. If you look through the unemployment figure you will notice that 395000 people lost their jobs last months, even though the Bushies would like to say that the unemployment held steady what they do want want to stress that the workforce reduced by 395000. And on the job creation front, a very sad story.

Wonder how many extra jobs he has created in Iraq, India, Ireland and China. Time to either leave the US or better still go to the polls at the earliest opportunity and get him out of there.
