I disagree. Aside from the media dumping on Dean--which it did--Gephardt and Kerry operatives were behind funding an independent group that bashed Dean with negative tv advertising. Due to the technicalities of election law, Iowans did not have the opportunity to learn who the backers of those commercials were until well after the election. In effect, the combo of all did in Dean.

Perhaps had Dean been a bit more dynamic candidate he could have had a better challenge against this. But, then again, Dean wasn't campaigning on dynacism. Was he?
